How To Use Organic Messaging To Your Advantage

Organic messaging I believe is an underused tool of a successful entrepreneur’s toolbox.

It is very easy to set up a Facebook or Google ad and let it run, tinker with it when necessary, and so on.

Now, this has huge upsides, do not get me wrong. The reach of an ad is unbelievable, and getting it right can be the difference between becoming successful and staying anonymous.

But what about for the smaller businesses and entrepreneurs?

Trying to compete for space on Facebook, Youtube, Google is extremely difficult. Often you will not have the funds required to beat these high-flying companies. It is difficult. They have more money than you, more know-how than you, more people working in their marketing departments than you.

So how do the little businesses compete? Organically.

What Is Organic Marketing?

Organic marketing is when you use your time to bring in customers instead of your money. I mainly do this on Instagram, so this is where I am going to keep myself. As the realm of Facebook is not an app I specialise in.

On Instagram, organic marketing is done in three ways:

  • Hashtags
  • Engagement
  • Messaging

Hashtags:

All of your posts that you put up should use the thirty most appropriate hashtags. Now whilst on carousels, you are unlikely to be looked at as carousels, do not do well with hashtags. Reels and single images do.

Hashtags are a filing system on Instagram, and they allow your work to be seen by an audience interested in what you are producing. Instagram is easy to use in that respect. If you find the right hashtags you will win… eventually.

However, you can also use this system in a different way, and that is by looking at other posts and seeing what your target audience is needing. What posts they are liking. What they are commenting.

This allows you then to tailor your posts to their needs.

Engagement:

This is the number one technique for ALL NEWBIES TO INSTAGRAM.

You want to grow your account? You have to engage with other creators. You need to be leaving comments on top accounts within the first three hours, you need to reply to pinned messages on these accounts, you need to be going through the messages to find other accounts to follow and message on.

This will see your account grow exponentially, and it will also bring your target audience to you.

Messaging:

Only after doing the above two should you focus on this. This is where the money is made in the organic market. Direct messaging.

Reach out to your prospective clients and engage them in conversation. The art of this step is to not come over as trying to sell.

It is important to come over as a friend, the way you engage is to start off trying to learn more about the person or business, and only then do you start to move the conversation towards a sales call.

Messaging is by far the most effective way to get sales, but it is also the longest way.

However, this method will take time to build up to where you can make a lot of money. This method is possible and will work if you put the time in.

It is hard to compete on a grand scale when you start your business adventure, everything is against you in comparison to your competition. Winning small but often with an organic strategy will lead to bigger results down the road.
