7 Secrets to Long-Term Happiness: How to Practice the Concept Every Day
Are you looking for happiness? Happiness is a state of mind that can be cultivated, but it takes time. Happiness starts with the mindset- your thoughts are powerful and will affect how you feel over time. The more you think about things that make you happy, the happier you will become! This blog post discusses 7 secrets to long-term happiness and how to practice them every day so that they have an effect on your life!
The seven secrets to happiness are:
- Be grateful
- Practice mindfulness

Secret #01: Be Grateful
Start your day by thinking of all the things you are grateful for. Write these down on a pad of paper by your bed. This will set the tone for your day and help you to stay positive. Take a few minutes every morning to think about what you are grateful for, whether it is something big or small. Feeling grateful for the good in your life will help to attract more happiness into your life. Then carry that list through the day on the piece of paper.
When you start to feel down or sad, you can then look back at that piece of paper. The reason why this works so well is that it restarts your brain’s thinking patterns, and brings back memories for the reason why you are grateful for that one thing.
Secret #02: Practice Mindfulness
Mindfulness is the practice of being present in the moment. When you are mindful, you are aware of your thoughts and feelings and how they affect your day-to-day life. This can be practiced by simply being aware of your surroundings and what is happening in the present. When you are mindful, you will find that you are less reactive and more patient. This can be a difficult practice to master, but it is worth it!
Look for hearts. In your everyday life look around for heart-shaped objects, whether they be clouds, flower patterns, rocks, shells, WHATEVER! When you see these items think about what they could represent. The universe showing that you are on the right path maybe, or maybe the universe showing you that love is all around.
As we practice mindfulness, the world around us starts to make sense.
Secret #03: Set Goals
One of the best ways to achieve happiness is by setting goals and working towards them. Happiness is a result of our actions, so the more goals you have to work towards, the better. Set both long-term and short-term goals that are achievable in order to ensure feelings of happiness when they are completed!
Secret #04: Exercise
Everyone knows that exercise makes us feel good, but did you know it can also increase your happiness? Exercise has been shown to release endorphins, which are chemicals that make us feel good. When we exercise, our bodies activate the reward centers of our brains and this can lead to feelings of euphoria! Even if you don’t love working out or exercising right now, just do it for a short period each day and you will begin to feel the benefits!
Secret #05: Spend Time with Friends and Family
Spending time with friends and family is one of the best ways to increase your happiness. They can provide us with support, love, and laughter. When we are around those that we care about, our moods tend to be elevated. Make time for those close to you and enjoy your time together!
Secret #06: Live in the Moment
When we are constantly living in the past or future, we tend to be less happy. The present is all that exists, so it is important to focus on what is happening right now. When you are able to live in the moment, you will find that your happiness increases. Happiness is a choice- if we choose to live in the present and not worry about what happened yesterday or what might happen tomorrow, it can be easier for us!
Secret #07: Be Grateful Every Day
Gratitude is one of the best ways to increase our feelings of happiness. When we are grateful for the good in our lives, it attracts more good into our lives. Being grateful helps us to stay positive and focused on the good things happening in our lives. It is important to be grateful for both big and small things! Take a few minutes every day to write down what you are grateful for this will help to keep you in a positive mindset.
